Some foot massage techniques:
- The first thing to consider in a foot massage is to have two or three towels handy as well as having enough lotions or creams. For feet having rough calluses and hard skin, a rich cream would be ideal and works better than a hand lotion or oil, though they will all work, to different degrees. There are also people who might wish to use creams scented with eucalyptus or mint, both of which work wonders for refreshing tired feet. A natural disinfectant is tea tree oil, or if you wish to make your own concoction, mix a few drops of essential oil with unscented creams.
- The second important factor to note when giving a foot massage is to keep the feet absolutely clean, so soak the feet with a cup of Epsom salt that has been dissolved in a gallon of warm water because it will help to de-stress before the foot massage begins. In addition, make sure that the feet are completely dried, even between the toes of the feet.
- Lastly, massage the feet, one foot at a time and follow a routine, start massaging the cream with care into the whole foot, starting from top and right down to the bottom and then to the toes and ankles.
Then, one needs to work a little more deeply by applying strokes around the feet and working one’s way up to the ankles and then on to the soles of the feet, taking care to place a towel below to protect the clients clothes. Apply some more pressure and continue by going over the sole again, taking care to apply more pressure on points that may be experiencing chronic pain. When massaging the toes, use gentle and circular motions and stretch the feet a bit as you rub them.
Always use plenty of cream and massage the feet gently, finishing the foot massage by repeating the all-over massage that was done at the beginning. When the foot massage has been finished, make sure that the soles of the feet are dried thoroughly to help prevent accidental slipping. Once the massage is finished the feet will once again, feel fresh and soft. Also the client should feel relaxed and energized

I’m a guy, and sometimes my feet hurt because of ways I sit. I stopped sitting like that, but my foot still aches. Someone suggest I have my feet massaged. Where do I go to get that done? Also, I’m kind of nervous because I think that only girls would go to a spa or something, and I’ll look awkward being the only guy.
What should I do? What kinds of places should I look for? Is there a type of massage I need?

Deep Tissue Massage
The benefits of a deep tissue massage.
A deep tissue massage is a massage technique which centers mainly on the deeper layers of muscle tissue, and aims specifically at releasing the persistent areas of tension in the body through the use of slow hand strokes and deep finger pressure on particular areas of the body.
A deep tissue massage is the type of massage that is commonly employed to release areas chronic muscle tension, and this style of massage also helps to break up and remove any existing scar tissue.
The main objective of massage is to relax the body while releasing tension and toxins, and helping to relax and soothe the muscles. Although deep tissue methods are usually intended for more focused massage work, it is easy enough to learn.
The best idea is to start superficially and then slowly ease into the depth of the muscle, and this is especially important because each person will experience pressure differently, and so what may feel soft to one person may feel incredibly rough to another.
Not only does a deep tissue massage feel great, but it is also incredibly beneficial to your health. This is because both oxygen and nutrients are blocked when you are stressed, and this can lead to inflammation and a build-up of toxins in the muscle tissue. With this type of massage, you can loosen your muscle tissues, release toxins from your muscles, and also get your blood and circulation flow going properly.
As well, if the pressure is applied too hard too quickly, the muscles may actually tighten in order to protect that area, and not only will this not feel pleasurable but it can also cause serious injury. This type of massage is also the one which is most often used for that of sports related and other injuries, as the depth of the actual massage can be used to relieve pain and strains from deep in the muscle tissue.
Deep tissue massage is also used in the treating of muscle, tendon and ligament injuries for example, as well as that of immobilizing diseases. It is also extremely dynamic for that of skeletal structures that are found to lie deep within the body and which usually cannot be reached with the fingers in a regular type of massage.
It basically works by breaking down scar tissue and crystallization which thus helps to restore that of proper muscular balance and bone structure.

I had one in feb. They focus where most of the tension is on your body. For me it was the shoulders. Of course it’s full body massage but they emphasize where the most tension is and for me it was my shoulders. Very relaxing and good stress reliever.
What do you think? Answer below!Question by stimpy: what are the “toxins” released by deep tissue massage or spinal manipulation?
a true deep tissue massage tends to make one feel a bit crappy the next day, and I’ve heard that is due to the release of “toxins”, a vague term indeed. Are these excess calcium, or other compounds released into the bloodstream to be filtered by the kidneys and liver?

Answer by banzai_4
it’s a buzzward, it doesn’t release any ‘toxins.’ A toxin has a specific definition of a poison produced in nature.
most likely due to lactic acid synthesis of the muscles aggrivated by harsh massaging do you feel crappy afterwards, the same feeling as if you had an extremely exhausting workout.
But there are not ‘toxins’ released–that doesn’t make ANY sense physiologically

I got a massage today on some very very tight muscles in my neck and back. The area feels so much looser and I haven’t gotten the headache or shooting pains that I had, but the area is very swollen and when I touch it, it feels so sore! Should I ice it? Is this normal?
Best answer:
Answer by Amaranth
Yes, it can be normal. You probably had some knots in your muscle. It takes a lot of work to loosen them. Apply ice, you can also take Advil for the pain.
