Is A Massage Chair Any Good?
The massage chair – a viable alternative to traditional means of alleviating back aches.
There are lots of people who go through back aches and this could, in many cases, be so acute as to justify taking some relief measures and what better way than to use a massage chair. Oftentimes, the lower back is the area of the body most afflicted with aches and pains and this could end up impacting the upper body muscles as well. The vast majority of relief measures suggested for helping back aches are taking rest, heating the painful area or taking pain killing pills, as well as taking lots of bed rest, which studies indicate may not after all be the best overall cure.
Till recently, it was these traditional methods which people sought for getting relief but that has changed with newer scientific studies throwing up solutions such as massage chairs to cure back aches. People who have used massage chairs to cure their aches and pains have positive things to say about these chairs which use a therapy that has been known for quite some time.
A study released by the American Medical Association in its April 2001 issue said that Archives of Internal Medicine shows the massage chair to be one of the best relief giving pieces of equipment obtainable today that can be used effectively to treat chronic back aches and does not have any side effects, and should be a number one choice from the various options available. It is thought that as many as 75% of those who have used massage chair therapy have been found to have benefited significantly and this percentage of encouraging responses are much higher than for any of the other traditional means of pain relief.
Anybody who has tried and not found satisfactory relief from other traditional forms of medical treatment should seriously consider massage chair therapy as a scientifically proven method that has proved itself successful in alleviating chronic and other back aches. Even though heating the affected area is a very effective means of alleviating pains it can also be alleviated by massage chairs. Another common cause of back ache is not sitting properly, especially at the workplace and in such instances massage chairs, which can be made to recline horizontally will help greatly to give relief to the aching back. This is achieved by lowering the pressure on the back, especially by loosening muscles, creating a reduction in tissue adhesion as well as showing considerable improvement in the local blood pressure.
There are many companies with who are forward thinking with their attitudes that are buying massage chairs for their workplace with brands such as Sterling, Keyton, Sanyo and HTT being popular manufactures of massage chairs. As an investment, the massage chair will certainly pay back the costs by slashing the time lost to back ache suffering employees as well as eliminating the side effects that some medications can cause.

I think my wife paid just over $300 for her’s. Probably the best function, she said, were the travel wheels. If you’re going from event to event, you want to make sure the wheels will hold up. I know that has no direct relation to actual massage practice.
After that, make sure it’s fully adjustable and all that. Make sure it sets up quickly, with as few steps as possible.
Honestly, I don’t remember the brand but it has a cover and although my wife did not want to specialize or be known for ‘chair massages’, she was/is happy with what she purchased.
Keep this question open and I’ll find out tonight what she has and ‘edit’ it in. In the meantime, check out the link below.
Peace.

Edit….
‘Wife got “Stronglite”, http://www.massageking.com/products/Massage-Chair-Package/StrongLite-Ergo-Pro-Massage-Chair-Package/1175/1/1
She likes it 1) for it’s stability. When people get on it, it doesn’t wiggle around and 2) the knee pads come off for people that cannot bend their legs back. Some people cannot put weight on their knees like that.
She didn’t purchase it at the link above but the price was about the same.
Good luck

Oh I found one!
In the local Costco of El Centro, California, they sell massage chairs.
Here’s a website to help you out on finding the one you want!

I’m not talking about thousand dollar chairs, I’m talking about those things that you attach to a chair.
Most of those things are only vibrations, but I’m looking for one with rotating balls in it.
I’d like to see a good, cheap one. I saw one at my CVS, but it was $99. I’m hoping to find one cheaper. Any idea where to look?
Walmart sure, but I’ve been there and all they had were the vibrating ones or just ones for your neck. I’m looking for full back ones.
